"With great sadness, we lost our beloved Meda on August 17th, 2011. Meda was our big black bear, our gentle giant, our protector and an important part of our family. He joined our family in 2008 and became an integral part of our lives immediately. He was patient and gentle with our children and our two other dogs (Casey and Murphy), even though he was many times bigger and stronger than all of them put together! With his deep, strong bark he would both protect our home and family and welcome us home if we were away for even 5 minutes. Meda was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2011. When he could no longer enjoy his walks or play with his ball, we knew that it was time for us to say goodbye. We did not want him to suffer, nor did we want him to lose his dignity or pride in the end. It was the hardest decision we have had to make as a family - but while his time with us was way too short, we will cherish it and remember him always.

"Rest in Peace, Meda - we love you and miss you!"

Riley came to me eight years ago as a foster and has never left my side.  He was to be euthanized due to his condition and that he was a black dog and nobody wants a black dog.  After months of TLC, Riley improved and showed his great kindness.  He never made a fuss, asked for anything and was possibly the gentlest dog I have ever met.

He loved to go for walks and play in the woods, his nickname was “The littlest Hobo” for the way that he would run and explore every square inch of the woods with his brothers.

Having the chance to rescue and spend eight wonderful years with this gentle boy has been one of the special parts of my life and there is still a little empty spot in my heart for Riley.

You are missed by a great many people Riley and will not be soon forgotten.
